Calculating new build costs

-$15.00 New Roswell Computer case on sale free shipping
-$55.00 Rosewill Hive Series 550W Modular Power Supply, 80 PLUS Bronze
-$80.06 ASRock B450M PRO4 AM4 Motherboard
-$95.25 AMD RYZEN 3 2200G Quad-Core 3.5 GHz with tax and shipping ($79.00 amazon plus tax and shipping)
-$59.53 2x4GB Dual Channel DDR4 Kit Patriot Viper PC4-2400 - 3,000 MHz (includes Nevada sales tax)
-$88.78 Corsair Force MP510 M.2 2280 480GB PCI-Express 3.0 x4, NVMe 1.3 3D TLC - hard drive is back ordered (price includes tax & shipping)

$393.62 spent thus far.

Not happy with Roswell Computer case as it will not allow LG Blue-Ray Rewriter and Roswell Modular Power Supply to be used together. No room for cables, clearance between the the two units is less than an inch, I have assembled without installing the LG Blue-Ray Rewriter, installed AntiX 19-a2 to ram to test hardware already received and assembled. I do like the 2xUSB 3.1A connectors on the face of the case, but I am going to need to recycle a used case from the workshop or purchase a different case with enough depth to install both a power supply and Blue-Ray writer.

For the USD I have spent, a Ryzen 5 2400G and 16 gigs of PC4-2400 memory might have been a better choice for this new build.

Updating UEFI Bios Interesting Message : (* Please install "AMD all in 1 with VGA driver ver:18.50.16.01_WHQL" or a later version before updating to this BIOS.) The zipped files have setup.exe files...

Sent a question to ASROCK support about the Uefi Bios update with windows requirement update.

Code: Select all

»Subject Bios update

»Problem Description
Please install "AMD all in 1 with VGA driver ver:18.10.20_NHDA" or a later version before updating to this BIOS.
This appears to be setup exe file for windows, is this needed for a Linux O/S. How does this run in Linux?

Received this reply: Unfortunately ASRock does not support any Linux version , therefore ASRock does not have drivers nor solution for Linux.

Amazing...

So funny there are many Linux users on the forums, apparently AsRock support is unaware it has many Linux users...

Maybe support reading from on-line English manual, not real world use...

Interesting $370 for similar computer to my recent build...

No DVD, smaller hard drive, but an interesting unit...

Hard drive arrived, this system boots quickly: Corsair Force MP510 M.2 2280 480GB PCI-Express 3.0 x4, NVMe 1.3 3D TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CSSD-F480GBMP510

Still have not changed the computer case to install both a power supply and Blue-ray burner. I have two other systems with blue-ray burners near, so until I see a different case on sale, will not change out this newer build to another case.

Antix-17.4.1 did a UEFI install and boots quickly. Decided I will do a antiX-19.a2_x64-full install to keep testing the newer potential AntiX release, in this newer system build.
