I'll do my own research because the links given above are not what I am looking for, so I'll mark this issue as abandoned.

It seems that skidoo has given valuable alternatives. Do you really need it in the corner?

That is a nice feeling, isn't it?
I still have MX in the back of my head and will probably give it a whirl 1 day, though that black screen saga worries me a bit. I assume Wifi is as easy as with antiX.
Several days ago I flashed my router with a newer version of DD-WRT firmware. There's a known issue with certain routers that the ethernet ports no longer work after a flash. The work-around is to connect to the router with wifi then add the ports to your bridge. I plugged in an old D-Link USB wifi dongle that I have and MX detected it with no problems, and I was able to connect to my router and make the ethernet jacks work. It's like any Linux, or Windows for that matter: it can have problems with certain hardware but 99% of the time it just works.

Do you really need to reply if you have nothing to contribute?

True, I am beginning to realise that too, as far as Linux goes; Windows is quite another story. When I had to install a light weight Linux distro on my wife's 2 GB RAM/32 GB hard disk laptop, and chose antiX, I was worried about the Wifi side. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was, antiX detected it up and let me connect without any hassles, easier than even Mint. I did make the "mistake" of choosing, albeit inadvertently, for wicd instead of for Ceni, that does not bother me.

What's important for me is that she is happy with her new set-up, which is the case

Do you need to be rude when somebody tries to help ?

I don't see any help from your side, merely a spokesperson on behalf of Skidoo type of comment. If I misunderstood you then clarify your 1st comment, and I will apologise. Otherwise my earlier reply stands as is.

No problem. I have have been polite to everyone, and have expressed my gratitude to everyone who has helped me - you can check out all my posts. Nevertheless, if I feel if someone makes a sarcastic, misplaced comment I am entitled to set that person back on the right track.

I have asked the person to explain his/her 1st reply to me and offered to apologise, i.e. I have taken the lead to be polite, even over what I believe is a sarcastic remark.
