Is there a MX repo associated with antiX-17?
Is there a MX repo associated with antiX-17?
I like to use Streamtuner2 as my internet radio player. But the current version is not in the antix repos. Stevo helped me temporarily enable the MX15 test repo with my antiX-16 system and I was able to get it installed and then disable the MX15 test repo.
But I do not see a similar MX test repo associated with antiX-17 when I look in the sources lists. I thought I could do something similar to what I did with antiX-16 and the MX-15 test repo.
I tried the antix test repo but that did not pull in streamtuner2.
I know it is in the MX17 test repo. Can I enable the MX17 test repo in antiX-17?

Have you considered to use qmplay2 ?
Times ago I used Streamtunner2 but lately switched to qmplay2 that offers more and more than Streamtunner2.

Re: Is there a MX repo associated with antiX-17?
To clarify.
MX test repo is not the same as antiX testing
antiX testing repo includes packages built from and for Debian testing and should only be used with Debian testing.
BTW - pmrp is included on antiX out of the box.

Thanks, yes, I knew that they were not the same. I didn't keep the antix testing repo enabled. I only tried to see if it had streamtuner2.anticapitalista wrote: ↑Tue Feb 05, 2019 5:58 am To clarify.

anti, do you think I can add the MX17 test repo to antiX-17? or is that a no-no?

Thank you penguin. I will check out that other player. I have tried PMRP before. But there is a particular station that I can find in streamtuner2 that I like.penguin wrote: ↑Tue Feb 05, 2019 4:33 am Have you considered to use qmplay2 ?

And yes, I have used the .deb file to install before. I just want to make sure I don't screw this system up this time. This is the system I am trying to keep in good shape. I have other systems I don't care so much about.
Can I assume that downloading the deb from that link to the mxrepo.com location would be the same result as adding the MX17 test repo to my sources?

That is a great question, it merits a place in the FAQanti, do you think I can add the MX17 test repo to antiX-17? or is that a no-no?
No, not consistently the "same result".downloading the deb from that link to the mxrepo.com location would be the same result as adding the MX17 test repo to my sources?
Based on what's available via your enabled (antiX17 stable + debian stable) repositories, the newcomer package may have unmet dependencies.
ps: I really liked streamtuner2 but, regardless of packaging, its newer version(s) have become unreliableHave you considered to use qmplay2 ?

If you like a station a lot, just find his link(source) right click or something similar or look at the link when this station i played at vlc,seaken64 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 06, 2019 1:30 amThank you penguin. You can add manually in pmrp or qmplay2.

Re: Is there a MX repo associated with antiX-17?
And the answer is... ?
Actually I've just tried exactly that, added the MX test repo to antiX, mostly because I want some stuff that I already have on MX installed as the same version (eg geany, Autokey). It seems to work fine but then again, who knows!?
One thing that should be kept in mind is that AFAIK adding the MX test repo and then doing a dist-upgrade will probably lead to problems. So I simply enable the MX test repo for a group of specified downloads, do only those, and then disable it again. YMMV.
(EDIT: That is one of the great features of a frugal install and persistence: you can backup your rootfs and then go ahead and do all sorts of crazy/dangerous stuff. If it breaks/explodes/implodes, simply get your rootfs backup and start afresh.)

Re: Is there a MX repo associated with antiX-17?
You could give it a try, but there is no guarantee that it will work correctly (I assume it will because I trust the MX packagers) and, probably more importantly, whether any upgraded libs will effect other apps.

Re: Is there a MX repo associated with antiX-17?
In streamtuner2's case, it's compatible because I built it against plain vanilla Debian Jessie and Stretch in pbuilder schroots, as I do for packages which do not require newer libraries to build or enable features (like I build VLC against the MX 18 updated video libraries to make sure va-api acceleration work).
I would recommend that you manually download and install the deb with gdebi instead of adding the repo.
QMPlay2 is also in the main MX 17 repositories, which I noticed was not mentioned in penguin's recommendation. It's also built against and requires MX's newer ffmpeg libraries to make sure va-api works, which makes the deb incompatible with vanilla Debian.
