antiX test repo is only meant to be used with Debian test repo. It is not like the MX test repo.

Thanks for the info I'm getting this error message updating the repo for antiX test if I am using the right repo in da first place..

Code: Select all

Failed to fetch http://mx.debian.au/antix/testing/dists/testing/InRelease Could not resolve 'mx.debian.au'Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
Are we using sid or buster...

Thanks Again

antiX-17 default is stretch. That error might just be that the mirror was down. You could use repo-manager to select another one for the antiX repos.

@KoO / anticapitalista: just accidentally stumbled onto this message. By the way, what mirror is this "http://mx.debian.au/", I've never heard we had it, it is listed nowhere? Is it still active or gone (I cannot access it from my location to take a look). Maybe it was down because it doesn't exist anymore?

It was never on the antiX or MX test servers the below server is where I download it from..
And i3 has just been updated to 4.16.1-1 from 4.16.0 last night. on buster

deb http://ftp.au.debian.org/debian/ buster non-free contrib main

I don,t like the word testing I would much more perfer buster or sid. This is my way of thinking. I always want to know if the file I,m about to download is a buster or sid version..
(On MX this is a little different was we request a file for testing..)

sid = alpha
buster = beta

Thanks, get it, but my question was rather not the package but whether we had/have this mirror for MX in Australia you quoted above "http://mx.debian.au/" (seems nothing there), because if we don't (anymore) it was the reason you got "failed to catch" on it few weeks ago... now have 3 mx/antiX mirrors AusNet Syd/Mel, Datamossa Syd, Launtel Tas

It is on
deb http://ftp.au.debian.org/debian/ testing non-free contrib main

They just use the debian testing server because i3 is not widely used in the MX and antiX continuity plus someone has to maintain the repositories. And it is easier for them to use Debian repo at the end of the day the programs are the same anyway.

buster=beta this statement is not quite right by me. Buster or testing just means that the final release of the program has never been run on say Debian MX antiX so it stay for some time in the testing server just to make sure that the new version will runs without any problems. That is what make Debian a very stable system..

There are no antiX buster repos yet since buster has not entered a full freeze yet.
(Actually there is one buster repo, the default antiX one, but it is exactly the same as antix/testing at the moment)
