(solved)live-usb-maker does not work for me
Re: (solved)live-usb-maker does not work for me
Downloaded the new build, building a USB of MX18b1_amd64, as per image (log to follow):
Rebooting to try it out.
[ NOTE:
Writing from same.
I get "Plugin "Whisker Menu" unexpectedly left the panel, do you want to restart it?"
whenever I click on the Menu button.
When I click on Submit, Vivaldi dies. Will try again...That worked.
The Xfce4 menu on desktop still works.

Re: (solved)live-usb-maker does not work for me
Will try again with the 4.9.0-8_amd64 kernel.
The 4.19 kernel is quicker but strange things happen.
That didn't last long:

Maybe something wrong with the ISO?
Will try another,
this time from the CLI version with same ISO.

Re: (solved)live-usb-maker does not work for me
The last error message in that file is "cp: cannot stat '/run/live-usb-maker/iso/*' : No such file or directory". If the log file /var/log/live-usb-maker.log is created it may contain more useful information.
One strange thing is that it looks like the iso file is already mounted and then gets automatically unmounted while live-usb-maker is running. Battling back against auto-mounting jumping in and messing things up has been a struggle. There may be some more stringent anti-auto-mounting code already in there that we can re-enable.

Here's the log in the open:
I reran the CLI version on this same ISO. It ran to completion.
Going to boot it and see. Will advise.

Re: (solved)live-usb-maker does not work for me
Booted from the USB. It's a not so good Verbatim Store n Go <15GB, but it serves for installing.
I am becoming convinced that the latest 4.19 kernel is not a good fit on this T430 laptop.
Although it is subjectively fast and runs cooler strange things seem to happen.
The 4.19.0-1-386 does seem to run very well on an Acer Aspire One AOAZG5 netbook.
Will stay with the 4.9.0-8_amd64 on the T430 for a while.
Any ideas or logs to look for?

Re: (solved)live-usb-maker does not work for me
Richard, can you please run the same command the GUI runs but directly in the CLI Does that give the same error?
Code: Select all
live-usb-maker gui -N --label=MX18b409 -V -C off --from=/media/SD-NTFS/MX18b1x64-409-181213.iso -t /dev/sdd
Re: (solved)live-usb-maker does not work for me
OK,
Let me remove/reinsert the USB
Code: Select all

The first time it errored as above, rebooted with 4.9.0-9 kernel and it is running:

@BitJam, I remember seeing an option to stop auto-mounting. I will try it again with that enabled.
Though it is weird because it is a sometime thing.
