Very weird. I tried to donate both from the original link and from the link in antiX's home page.

BOth times, I chose the "if you have a paypal account, you can log in" option, entered my name and password, and then found myself logged into paypal but with a message that the payment I attempted could not go through and to try again in 30 mins.

Not sure what's going on.

Yes. It's very common to use EC-cards in Europe instead of debit/credit cards.
They have the same concept like debit-cards but without a debit/credit-card-number
to manuale enter somewhere.
Those ec-cards cannot be used like credit-cards as you have no such card-number,
which you need to enter. You cannot pay with EC-cards via manual online-payments
as no card-number to enter is given. Most banks offer the EC-cards for free or a
very small annual charge, that might be one reason they are so popular and no
need for debit/credit cards.

So how do you EC cards if you don't have a number?

and without a credit-card? Credit-Cards are not as common in europe as in us,
mostly use is of debit-kind of bank-cards (aka ec-cards)
bit-coin springs to mind?
are not common in Germany ;)
Credit Card are very common in France and for a long long time, thanks to him.

You don't need a card number to pay at a cash machine, or to withdraw cash at an ATM. There is an embedded code of course, which might be numerical, but it's not exposed to the end user. They are possibly more secure with no number on them if they get stolen.

In some EU countries, credit cards are far from universally accepted due to the high vendor fees.

There are also pre-loaded debit cards that children often use; I don't know if they are used in the US, but are pretty common in the UK.

In an other hand, In a purely marketing aspect, and to beter promote this distrib. in my opinion, Antix should also privilege the fact that it is alternatively a light and standard distribution for old and new PCs / but also and mostly, a live rescue CD/USB (with the tools of the genus SystemRescueCD).

This page has a working Paypal button at the bottom:

https://antixlinux.com/

I have donated about $20 per month to FOSS since 2012 (patting myself on the back ;) ) If devs both do the work and pay the associated costs, I figured that they might give up sooner rather than later. Often users don't donate if someone doesn't tell them to, but many contribute in other ways. I hope antiX and MX can continue on their successful paths. :number1:
