Levono G50-30 apparently sound card is not working with Microphone...

Trying to select ALSA card
Only one sound card was found:

Nothing to do

Testing sound: can hear @ 100% in a quite room extremely low volume

Alsamixer shows no Microphone volume: see attached image

Hit F4 in alsamixer to see the microphone capture settings.

lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 4 - MX-23
FYI: mx "test" repo is not the same thing as debian testing repo.

dolphin_oracle,

I installed pavucontrol, and pulseaudio, I tried pressing the input device (lock) that showed two separate the signals controls, I moved them to different volume levels as suggested in several random Mint, and Ubuntu Linux postings. That worked with a slight buzz in the background on the receiving end of a video chat, unfortunately this tryal fix only worked for several seconds before the volume lines equalised and sound disappeared for the receiver in the video chat. Finally bosting the Playback volume in pulseaudio volume control fixed the video chat sound problems I experienced in MX and AntiX live demo.

There were many Mint and Ubuntu Linux posting indicating this problem was a result of having pulseaudio installed. I really had 2 sound problems in this AntiX install.

1. Low volume that required the inconvenience of only occasionally having sound in any on-line video, or internet music selection. Tis funny with this poor sound level problem advertisements mostly had decent sound levels.
2. No Microphone connection for video chats, and this laptop computer was specifically acquired to replace my depreciated Acer 710 chromebook.

What I discovered in AntiX was a very low volume, unacceptable sound levels, then I discovered it did not have pulseaudio installed. installing pavucontrol, and pulseaudio and playing with the controls in the pulseaudio volume control I was able to get a large increase in volume for all sounds. Most of all I was able to discover a method to clear up the signal and volume of the internal microphone. I kept trying to separate the input device volume 5 or more times, before I was able to change the internal microphone using the Playback volume control. I consider this solved @ the Moment, and hope it continues to work.

I have Lenovo G50-80 and somehow it's inbuilt microphone was being automatically disabled on each reboot. I was really frustrated by this. Tried to look on multiple forums, but was disappointed. :lion:

I have a similar Lenovo and I bought a cheap USB mic because nothing I did got it working under Linux.

This happened both with and without pulse audio, by the way.
Desktop: Mini-Box M350 with Asus H110i-plus motherboard, Pentium G4600 processor, 2TB SSD and 16Gb RAM DDR4-2133
Printer/Scanner: Brother MFC-J5335W
Laptop: Lenovo V15 ADA
Media Centre: Lenovo Q190

The person I gifted the system to does not use it for video chats, so the MX 18.3 system has continues to be good for them.
I tried several ebay cheap USB Mic for my weekly video chats via Hangouts but both units died, so I found another alternative for weekly video chats.

Installed a Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 on the AMD 2200G antix b3 testing system. Doing weekly video chats recently has been great, now I have the hardware horsepower and use antix b3 with an older kernel that plays well with this system.
