Roky, you are an F-in' treasure! If anyone tells you otherwise, tell them to F-off.

I'll just mention since I seemed to have quieted down the discussion.

I was a DSL and Puppy user. Way before I discovered AntiX and Mepis/MX.

Oldest gear I ran Linux on was

I still have that laptop. Makes a excellent base on the shelf to support my other decrepit laptop bags. Like intel atom single core n270 touchscreen and other stuff collecting dust since I moved up on hardware specs. My local city hall has my back when they upgrade their gear. They discard thelandfill unitsto my door step.

I had to try to get some real work done. You beat me with the oldest/weakest Linux computer. I first started at 20MHz. Then the speed increased by about x10 for my next two machines, to 200MHz, and then a little under 2GHz. I'm now at 3.2 GHz x 8 = 25.6 GHz which is again roughly x10. The actual speed up up is MUCH greater than that due to SIMD (Single Instruction, Multiple Data.) which was added to facilitate good quality real-time video. I think my 2GHz machine was much faster than a super-computer I was using in the early 90s.

I don't think you quieted the thread. I think our way OT drag racing tangent ran its course. So to speak.

One upon a time my 1962 110 HP Cooper S was nearly the quickest machine across an intersection once the lights changed. Now I take my time on a Scion xB or BB depending upon which side of the Pacific I am standing. Tried a lot of small distros on old systems, always came back to AntiX, but certainly do like MX on my 4 year old dual core Dell Desktop...
