They are different, I don't know what the MX kernel includes or is based off.
antiX kernels are basically vanilla kernels from kernel.org plus 4 or 5 patches.

antiX kernels can be downloaded and installed using dpkg -i from here

anti,

Will installing bring in the Nvidia driver for the kernel the way the MX installer did?

If nvidia is already installed via ddm-mx, then it should automatically create the same drivers for any newly installed kernel.

Had no issues with anti's 4.14 kernel + nvidia 375 driver (1st option of ddm-mx)

I installed thew stable 4.10 using the MX Package Installer, and as I recall it was the antiX 4.10, so maybe there is some difference that makes the vanilla from kernel.org work with Ryzen.

You need a patched 'meltdown' kernel and the 4.10 series is no longer supported. That is why I suggest the 4.14.12 antiX kernel. You could even try the 4.9.75 antiX kernel as well. It *might* be ok.

If you're running the AMD Ryzen processor, I don't believe that installing the Meltdown-mitigated kernels do anything concerning the kpti fix. So stick with the 4.10 kernel for now.

The MX kernels are backported versions of upstream Debian kernels, with the large number of Debian patches, except that the kernel context switch frequency is bumped from 250 to 1000 Hz, which is supposed to be better for desktop instead of server use. The latest 4.14 backport also built a separate realtime version of the kernel, by the way, so that's in the repo too.
