roxterm has flashing text antiX16.2 stretch

roxterm has flashing text antiX16.2 stretch

all the text in a roxterm flashes at the cursor rate.
I have not seen any settings to change that, theme changes etc.. have no effect.
Other terminals are fine, MX is fine.
onboard chip is radeon 7500.
ideas?

roxterm is broken in stretch, which is why we have replaced it for lxterminal on antiX-17.
