VIDEO: useing hte antiX net iso to make antiX-mate

Use the antix net iso to make a custom antix. In this case antiX-mate!

what's cool is that you can more or less build a "mx linux" with the antiX-16 net iso and adding the standard mx package set. obviously the packages to install are different, but its fun and educational.

The advantage of the "net" isos vs. the core iso is really the kernels. the net isos have a regular kernel that can use non-free firmware, which is important for all us guys running intel firmware for our wireless (bless you atheros for open-sourcing your firmware, at least a bunch of it).

Coincidentally 1-2 weeks ago I installed antiX16.1 full in VM, then for fun I installed the non-systemd MATE from antiX repos.

After making sure it worked I snapshotted the whole thingy and used the snapshot iso to create a live USB.

Live USB booted fine, although I don't recall seeing the list of Function Key options at the bottom of the grub menu page. From your video it looks like I booted the stick in UEFI. Will have to check my boot options in BIOS. Could have sworn I gave legacy boot the priority but maybe not for USB.
Desktop: Intel i5-4460, 16GB RAM, Intel integrated graphics
Clevo N130WU-based Ultrabook: Intel i7-8550U (Kaby Lake R), 16GB RAM, Intel integrated graphics (UEFI)
ASUS X42D laptop: AMD Phenom II, 6GB RAM, Mobility Radeon HD 5400

I've got a video coming on UEFI settings. my new-ish thinkpad caused me some minor confusion of a similar nature.

great to have such a lean and mean foundation to build on...I gotta give it a spin.
