pronouncing antiX

#1 Post by lonesomepoint »

Sorry if this is a recurring question, but I always meant to ask: how is antiX meant to be pronounced? "Antics," or "anti-ex" [suggested by the capitalized X]?

Me too, but I have heard others pronounce it anti X. That always sounds like an aging adult movie star to me.

"antics" is correct. also close to "antiques" and a greek translation of anti's user name, as I recall.

To me it would sound too much like "against X". I understand that some people want to move to Wayland... but that's not what it's supposed to mean.

But then. I always march to a different drummer.

actually.... antiX has a heavy does of cli apps along with it. IIRC I think the anti-X is another inside joke.

Hence the mild amusement over 'six' by the neighbors here, although 'fish 'n chips' is quite well known.

I didn't really know antiX was pronounced as one word. I think I've heard DO say it but perhaps taken it for an accent.

Can't imagine what folks make of an Aussie accent....
