I still think that adding those features to a simple QT MX application would be the best route for us. That way we wouldn't have some other program dragging in a lot of outside dependencies.

For example, I was just using the Qt 4 Hotshots screenshot maker and markup program for a HOWTO, which would add maybe 1 MB to an ISO, but has a lot of annotation and graphic functions which I barely touched. Qt programs don't drag in a lot of outside stuff, as opposed to something like the GNOME-based Shutter screenshot app.
