Right click doesn't work anymore

#1 Post by radissthor » Fri Feb 20, 2015 4:00 am

Hi everyone,

So this is something strange. From one day to the next my right click stopped working. Since it always worked well, I am affraid it might be a hardware thing, but I just want to make sure. I'm in a Samsung Series 3 300E laptop using Mepis 11. I should confess like a month ago or so I enabled the rest repos to do something and then I forgot do disable it. Then I did an update and now all my repos are at test level... So... that could also have something to do with everything...

I checked the mouse setting in the system settings and nothing seems different (there is no option that could prevent right click from working, from what I could see).

Any suggestions to diagnose the cause of the problem are much welcome.

Thanks.

Can you borrow a USB mouse to see if right-click works with that?

I checked the mouse setting in the system settings ..
And what happens if you change the behaviour of the mouse to left-handed person?

You can boot to Live CD to check if it still behaves that way, if it does then it probably means it's a hardware issue.

And check to see if the touchpad's right-click button works.

Like a couple others suggested I would check in a Live session first to make sure it's not a hardware related problem.

Upgrading Mepis 11 with the testrepo enabled will upgrade the Xorg stack (libdrm*, *mesa*, xserver-xorg-input-*, xserver-xorg-video-*, etc.). But those upgrades have been in the testrepo for a couple years now and I don't recall anyone else having this type of problem with them.
