I have never changed my IPV6 settings. The only forum setting I have changed is 'Log me in automatically'.

Chris
Well, something seems to have worked. I changed the ipv6 disable setting in Firefox to "TRUE" and checked the "Log me in when I visit" box. I left the Forum for over an hour, came back, and I was still logged in. I'll leave those settings alone for a while and see what happens.

You didn't slow down because you're old; you're old because you slowed down.

WAG: This is the difference. (I know I said before it was probably a browser setting but I've changed my mind. I'm old. I get to do that.) If you auto-login the server lets you stay, if you manually log in it times out.

Frankly, I do not see the issue. You are logged out for any reason, log in again.

Strange, it never logs me out, but I don't leave the forum open in a tab.
I don't need to log in for weeks and then it's done automatically...

Did Joany somehow get on Peregrine's bad side?

I've now stayed on longer than I ever have using the keep me logged in switch. It's never been an issue for me as I use Opera and it's 'Magic Key' to log in. One click does it.
Yes, even I am dishonest. Not in many ways, but in some. Forty-one, I think it is.

Looks like we are all different in the way this behaves. Here I log in manually and usually log out
each time. However, when I have forgotten, the log-in has survived 10 hours of power down here,
and next morning's reboot.

The "Log me in automatically" has always been slightly random for me, working with one version of firefox, but not iceweasel with the same number. Some versions of firefox have been impossible and had to be upgraded.
Never found a pattern in what works or not.

I would agree that it would be no issue if I had been logged out only once a day. Unfortunately, I was having to log in many times a day, even if I keep the browser open.

On a positive note, it seems that the "log me in automatically" setting does keep me logged into the forum as long as I keep Firefox running. However, unlike others, it doesn't survive a reboot. I think it's because I use "Private Browsing" mode in Firefox, which clears out everything out, including cookies, cache, and history when FF shuts down. Or it could be one of my FF extensions. Who knows?
