Update

#1 Postby Jerry3904 » Sat Jan 11, 2014 1:27 pm

The Development Team and about 10 extra people are now in the middle of a3 testing, and we are making good progress. We are rapidly approaching the point where some hard decisions are going to have to be made to stay under the 700 MB limit that we want.

Biggest news: we have rebranded this as (R U ready for this?!):

MX-14

Everybody, including Warren, is on board with this change, which we find easier to say, shorter to write, and hopefully greater in market potential.

You will soon see a beta to test, so please clear out a crufty partition.
Production: 4.7.0-0.bpo.1-amd64, MX-15 RC1, AMD FX-4130 Quad-Core, GeForce GT 630/PCIe/SSE2, 8 GB, Kingston SSD 120 GB and WesternDigital 1TB
Testing: AAO 722: 3.16-0-4-686-pae. MX-15, AMD C-60 APU, 4 GB

I like the new name!! Quite an improvement. Suggestion . . . nuke the Office suite and it will fit on a CD. ;)

I am going to dust off my P4 desktop that I have not used in a long time and load it. It was running Debian 6.0 fairly well so MX-14 should work nicely.

One of 2 test boxes. IBM M41 1.6ghz, wireless usb, desktop with 1gig of ram, or Atom Netbook with 1gig of ram. IDE drives on both.
Both run Puppy at the present time. Macpup ( Desktop frugal install) and Slack0 (Netbook full install). The IBM also dual boots with Semplice/Macpup.

One or the other. You decide what type of hardware you wish me to use to test on. I have no problem with deleting either install.

My Antec Micro ATX 64bit AntiX box is in a coma at the present time. It shows some
movement till I tell it to get out of bed and walk around. Then it relapses into a coma. Edit: Code Blue, DOA 12:13PM
I have a organ donor used board/brain implant coming to try and cure this patient.
I don't know if the organ can stand shipment stress. Previous cpu/heart did not from same donor.
Using a older cpu/heart from another donor. Hoping for the best.

Good luck with it Jerry. P.S. Don't mind me. :alien:

Why don't you fire up the live medium and see which functions better to you? Any report would be valuable.

I was going to do live reports anyways. I always do when I test AntiX for Anti. I know you are not a mind reader so you would not know that.
I'll decide then. I just thought a install review on one or other would matter on hardware tastes. There should be no problem booting and running
on any of the 2 computers running live. But. Can't see the future either.

I just thought you might have some druthers when having a choice.

Great, I like the name, this will be the first time I will really try XFCE. As a KDE fan I suspect it will be hard to convince me, but I will give it a fair try.
Can I get access to a3 to provide some feedback?

We would love to have your help. I will add you to the Development Team so you can see the development Forums. Download info for a3 and subsequent patch is at the end of the development Updates forum.

Done: Development Team forum is the last entry in the Community Forum section of the Board index.
