Magazine's approval!

#1 Post by chrispop99 »

Linux Format, the UK's leading Linux magazine, has published an article in its latest release showing the top five distros in each of four categories. MX is top of the lightweights, with antiX at number two!

That's weird. :)
Maybe there is no longer a distinction between of lightweight distros
and use on older computers? Although antiX does run fine on new boxes.

The four categories were:

Beginner
Rolling
Lightweight
Business

so I guess lightweight is the best fit for MX if those are the choices.

Now I understand. Thanks. :)

PS: Always enjoyed Linux Format, when it was available here in Venezuela.

Let's see if we get an increase in downloads and torrent traffic from this!

Onwards and upwards...

Although I'd probably favour Antix over MX for limited hardware; I see no reason MX shouldn't be up in the "Beginner" category as well. And thinking about it... the way the devs "work their socks off" keeping packages up-to-date (backporting from Buster etc), it could probably fit in the Rolling category at a pinch (although not a true rolling package base) ;)

Beginner friendly, lightweight & almost a rolling release.

All issues of Linux Format are available as PDFs from the publisher's archive and as an electronic emag of some sort they call the "digital copy." In fact, new issues appear as PDFs in the archives long before they hit my mailbox here in the US. All subscribers have access to them.
Personally, I would prefer to have only the PDFs and not get the paper copy and companion DVD at all, but I can't find an option for that type of subscription. Lol.
Venezuela. Wow. You guys are in the news a lot these days. :-)
Son, someday all this will belong to your ex wife.

Is that issue 242? I guess we have to wait a few days for it to hit the Intertubes--linuxformat.com still shows 241.

Edit: Ahh, must be 242--here's a legal "sampler" of some pages. Too bad MX and antiX didn't make the cover even though taking the top spots in class... https://issuu.com/futurepublishing/docs/lxf242.issuu
