MX Linux: A Mid-Weight Distro Focused on Simplicity

#1 Post by rich »

https://www.linux.com/learn/intro-to-li ... simplicity

Here's another review, from April 6.
MX Linux makes transitioning from just about any desktop operating system simple. Although some might find the desktop interface to be a bit less-than-modern, the distribution’s primary focus isn’t on beauty, but simplicity. To that end, MX Linux succeeds in stellar fashion. This flavor of Linux can make anyone feel right at home on Linux. Spin up this mid-weight distribution and see if it can’t serve as your daily driver.
Although I think this is definitely one of if not the best looking xfce spin I've seen.

Thanks for the heads up. He's completely inaccurate about antiX though.

Lxde?!

And again, he missed the easy way to change panel orientation with mx-tweak.

The tone of the review was complimentary, though.

Much to my surprise, that antiX installer MX Linux uses could be a real game changer
It's been a game changer for about, let me see 2018-2003 = 15 years since it's a modified MEPIS installer.

Since reviewers miss the panel tweak frequently, that sounds like something to add to the FAQ. I'll add that to the thread.

As a suggestion, on MX Welcome you've got "Tweak (panel, etc...)"

I feel this doesn't really grab attention. Hows about changing it to something like "MX Quick Setup" ?

This would hopefully be more successful at grabbing attention and guiding people to MX Tweak.
