True. And I think there might be many others who will miss that, because I'm not the only one who doesn't like to bother clicking through several pages to read something that could (and in my opinion, should) be all on one page. Is that sort of thing done mainly so that more ads can be displayed and viewed?

Yep. It's a form of clickbait. I virtually never read webpages which do that. I also never switch off my adblocker whatever the site content. (Case in point: Linux Lite.)
