visualizations playing music

#1 Post by golden45 » Sun Jan 20, 2013 10:02 pm

Found a little trick playing music .Like to pass it on.
1. goto system settings kde 4
display &monitors
2.got to display screensavers
3. open gl screensavers and select the one you want
4.my favorites are flux and solar winds
5.setup menu select random then test
6. you can run using test until you click on screen
again to go back to menu
Packages you need to install libvisual and kde screensavers if not installed by default.
you can also try other screensavers my mouse should be placed at the bottom of screen so cursor will not show.I've tried this using cd play back and on line radio works great John

visual setup kde4
install or check if these are installed libvisual, libvisual dev, libvisual plugins, libvisual projectm
install all kde4 screensavers using synaptic
goto system settings in kde4
goto kde 4 display&monitor
goto screensavers or screen locker
select screen saver or screen locker
the screen savers are there
select the one you want and click to select
you use test to start them--to stop them click on screen
you can change any of them using setup-speed and other settings from the menu
you can select any of them and leave your mouse at bottom so that it cannot be seen
you can use setup to change them to your liking
you can change them by selecting any displayed in the screen saver menu
goto system settings power management and uncheck screen energy saving so that they keep running
add more screen savers using synaptic search for screensavers and you can install more.
I use shoutcast as my radio station as it works well for music.

Faster way to access screensavers
synaptic
install screensaver packages 5.23-1
Install xscreensaver packages xscreensaver,xscreensaver data,xscreensaver-gl,xscreensaver-gl-extra
reboot you will find them menu -settings-screensaver-preview-settings
This is easier but you don't get all of them all just xscreensaver-gl
you can restore defaults -settings -restore defaults if you don't like what is happiing and start again
