Hello,
I apologize for my french is translated by Google :)

I took the following source: https://truecrypt.ch/downloads/
Linux x86 / gui / truecrypt-7.1a-linux-x86.tar.gz

I can not install a
No functional window opens with the possibility of different right mouse click.
I'm new to linux commands

Thank you for your help.

I am certain that this software could help others to protect their data.
It would be a good idea to include it in the basic installation of ANTI

Not so sure about that: http://truecrypt.sourceforge.net/

Hello Anticapitalista,

why not!
It is just as reliable as the other programs on MX-14 ...
This venture to propose a solution for the security of the data, at least to create encrypted files in his personal space.
From the beginning I used the 7.1a version (other linux and windows) and I did not have to worry about mounting / dismounting of container.
Also during installation, the program will warn the user of all this.

Have you tried this program de ja?

What is the equivalent currently used on ANTIX MX-14?

thank you

TrueCrypt's developers made that statement themselves. IE:
WARNING: Using TrueCrypt is not secure as it may contain unfixed security issues

(It is rumored due to NSA, GCHQ and the like inserting code.)

Truecrypt's anonymous developers abruptly abandoned the project without much explanation. There's been a lot of speculation, but it could have been because security agencies were pressuring them to install backdoors, and they quit instead.

Maybe searching for "best truecypt replacement linux" will turn up something...

Gibson Research is hosting the last Truecrypt release made before the crippled 7.2 "Swan Song" release. https://www.grc.com/misc/truecrypt/truecrypt.htm
A code audit of this is underway. One phase of the audit has been completed & so far, so good.
Version 7.1a is very likely safe to use.

And "very likely safe" is about as much as you can say about any of the other disk encryption programs out there. Truecrypt 7.1a will be the first to undergo a complete code audit...

There are some truecypt PPA repos out there. There's also a rebranded "realcrypt" version of truecrypt in an rpm that supposed to work if you convert it to a deb with alien.

To return to OP's question:

No functional window opens with the possibility of different right mouse click.
I'm new to linux command
1) Right-click the downloaded package > Extract here
2) Right-click an empty space in the same folder where you extracted the package > Open Terminal here
3) Type

Code: Select all

./truecrypt-7.1a-setup-x86
(for x86, change for 64), then Return
4) A screen will appear giving you choices, and off you go!

Jerry3904, thank you for your reply.
I started with Linux and I discovered this command. Everything worked.
