Re: MX 17 Repository: The fotoxx thread
Many thanks for preparing this major update of what I consider to be the best photo manager I've ever used. Fast on even older hardware and capable of organising thousands of photos using a metadata indexing system that allows you to fine the proverbial needle in a haystack. For those who are not ace users of Gimp it also has very powerful editing tools to improve poor quality photos, remove blemishes, etc. Its creator is also a very responsive, helpful person if you need any advice concerning the use of fotoxx.

Re: MX 17 Repository: The fotoxx thread
fotoxx-20.10 is now in test.
One thing I've noticed is that if you have an inordinate number of images on your system and I don't know what that number is but if you hit too many, fotoxx might crash on startup during indexing of all images. If you observe this problem, cancel indexing on startup. Once fotoxx is up, select Gallery->Gallery View G. Next, point the Gallery at your /Pictures Folder (assuming that's where you keep your pics). Now select Tools->Index Files. All your images will be indexed and the too many images to index problem will be gone.
If your system has never had fotoxx on it before, you'll get a dialog to selec "defer indexing". Select this option and once fotoxx is up, then follow the above steps.
fotoxx really does have some nice editing tools in it with some examples posted here and the included help pick isn't too shabby either.
