Tomtom Sports Connect

#1 Post by Eadwine Rose » Fri Aug 10, 2018 4:58 pm

Program for those with the tomtom brand sports watches or fitness bands (in my case the TomTom touch: https://www.tomtom.com/en_us/sports/fit ... ack-small/). In order to update the device you have to go to windows and start tomtom sports connect and log in. Here is what it all does: http://download.tomtom.com/open/manuals ... onnect.htm

The tomtom fitness band was recognized by MX17 when I plugged it in to charge it. Here is the dmesg code from plug in until pull out when it was fully charged.

Code: Select all

[15098.720332] usb 4-2: new full-speed USB device number 2 using ohci-pci
[15098.891435] usb 4-2: New USB device found, idVendor=1390, idProduct=7480
[15098.891443] usb 4-2: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3
[15098.891448] usb 4-2: Product: TomTom Fitness Band
[15098.891451] usb 4-2: Manufacturer: TomTom
[15098.891455] usb 4-2: SerialNumber: JC3496H02324
[15098.902256] hid-generic 0003:1390:7480.0002: hiddev0,hidraw1: USB HID v1.01 Device [TomTom TomTom Fitness Band] on usb-0000:00:12.1-2/input0
[19206.370559] usb 4-2: USB disconnect, device number 2
I though to myself: what if there is something for linux out there, I mean.. the band is recognized..

So.. I googled and found this: http://de.support.tomtom.com/app/answer ... ts-connect

I figured that would be an old version or something since it requires an old version of libgstreamer, so I searched on and ended up here. I think this is the latest version indeed, but dependent on that old libgstreamer: https://en.discussions.tomtom.com/sport ... ux-1021269

So... it is up to you guys if you are even willing to try this.. and if it is not possible because of two libgstreamers or too difficult or time consuming for another reason or just not worth the effort, no worries and I am more than happy to boot into my windows harddrive and connect it using that.

It's not a request request then as such, just a.. is this possible, will that work, or is it a case of "dream on"

It's closed-source, so we can't fix the dependencies...someone in that thread said they made a Docker container, which you might be able to run without installing those old libraries.
