Package Request: Temps

#1 Post by vamsi » Mon Jun 18, 2018 3:52 am

This app is very useful to find out temperature the xfce plugin of weather temperature lacks accuracy and it shows 4 degrees less than google but this app is showing accurately and simple to use. So, Kuindly add this pack

That's not a matter of which application is the most accurate but which data are the most precise - and it highly depends on your location.
Xfce weather plugin data come from norwegian national forecast institute whereas temps data come from openweathermap

Hello
To have an idea, I sometime use inxi ( an only single command line) ... but I do not know where the data come from, probably openweathermap too?
inxi --weather-unit c -xxx -W paris,france
Weather: Temperature: 23 C Conditions: Scattered Clouds Wind: from West at 4.5 m/s (16 km/h) Humidity: 57%
Pressure: 1023 mb Dew Point: 14 C Location: Paris, France altitude: 86 m
Current Time: lun. 18 juin 2018 15:40:18 CEST Observation Time: June 18, 5:30 PM CEST
or
curl wttr.in/~Paris?lang=fr

Salut oops,
inxi used Weather Underground services which is part of The Weather Company. But from what I understand, wunderground has discontinued their free API key last month.
Take a look at this discussion. Strange...
I don't know what they will do.

Since it's an Electron app, which means it's written in nodejs and bundles a version of Chromium to run it, it's going to be around a 35 MB download plus whatever size it extracts to on disk; probably well over 100 MB. So we could put it into deb files for the repo pretty easily...it's just that the bloat for a little weather app is so inelegant!
