#1 Post by Richard » Mon Jun 11, 2018 2:42 am

Double Commander just released a "stable" beta version 8.3, a bug-fix release. Better and better.
There is no current version in the MX 17 repos.

Double Commander is a free cross platform open source file manager
with two panels side by side. It is inspired by Total Commander and features some new ideas.
  • Features
    Unicode support
    Tabbed interface
    Multi-rename tool
    Custom columns
Built in file viewer (F3) to view files of in hex, binary or text format
Internal text editor (F4) with syntax hightlighting
Archives are handled like subdirectories. You can easily copy files to and from archives. Supported archive types: ZIP, TAR GZ, TGZ, LZMA and also BZ2, RPM, CPIO, DEB, RAR.
    All operations working in background
Extended search function with full text search in any files
Configurable button bar to start external programs or internal menu commands
Total Commander WCX, WDX and WLX plug-ins support
The source is here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/doublecmd/files/

Thanks.

I finally got it done. Its dependencies included newer versions of 3 large builds - one of which (lazarus) was giving me fits. But it turned out only libqt5pas needed to be built for our repos. Lazarus & FPC are in stretch-backports, but compiling the package with them does not inject any backports dependencies into the package, so if it performs properly it can go into main.

Thanks, timkb4cq,
Every upgrade of Lazarus/fpc is an adventure.
There are several gotchas and they seem to change with each build.

DC is a very handy tool.
