MX 17 Repository: The Pidgin Thread

#1 Post by Stevo » Sun Mar 11, 2018 5:50 pm

We now have the new Pidgin 2.13.0 in the test repository. It was built from the developer's tarball source using the Debian 2.12.0 template, as it has not made it into Debian yet.

Pidgin is a graphical, modular instant messaging client capable of using
multiple networks at once. Currently supported are:
AIM/ICQ, Yahoo!, MSN, IRC, Jabber/XMPP/Google Talk, Napster, Zephyr, Gadu-Gadu,
Bonjour, Groupwise, Sametime, SIMPLE, MySpaceIM, and MXit.

Features at a glance

The application features buddy pounces, certificates, custom smileys, moods, room list, file transfers, sounds, system tray integration, spell checking, custom themes, automatic reply, idle time reporting, and much more.

Standard IM functions include the ability to add buddies, add groups, add and join chats, view user information and log, sort contacts by status, recent log activity, manually, or alphabetically, as well as to view offline buddies, empty groups, idle times, buddy details and protocol icons.

Some extra packages are suggested to use increased functionality:
* libsqlite3-0:
- To use Contact Availability Prediction plugin
