Apache OpenOffice

#1 Post by Paul.. » Sat Mar 10, 2018 6:30 pm

I've noted some requests for Apache OpenOffice as an alternative to LibreOffice...EDIT: viewtopic.php?p=438878#p438878

I can put it into MXPI using a wget command to fetch a specific version...but the web links are such that it would require updating the script every time there is a new version...yuck. EDIT: I now find that I can use the Unofficial Apache OO Debian repository (deb http://downloads.sourceforge.net/projec ... deb/debian testing main) but...

...Because of that, I think it would be a better fit for the repo...is that do-able?

Do they install from there? I'm wary of the "testing" in the release line.

Wait a minute...here are the binaries on SF sorted by language...https://sourceforge.net/projects/openof ... /binaries/

...But the link from their website to a how to install shows the conflict with LibreOffice requiring removal of symbolic link or complete purge of LO...not a pretty picture...https://www.openoffice.org/download/com ... #linux-deb

*EDIT* Would putting AOO in our repo solve this problem?
