Open Mobile Suite (openmobilesuite) is one of the very few Linux-capable direct sync software solutions for a great number of Symbian and Android smartphones.
It has been developed by then-student Lukas Hetzenecker for his diploma thesis, and it seems to be the successor of series60-remote.
Unfortunately the last version is from 2012. However, AFAIK the latest Symbian versions have been developed in the same year, so as long as it does its job that should be perfectly o.k.
I'm filing this request as dolphin_oracle understandably was rather sceptical concerning the chances of making nokuntu (an alternative) run on MX-17 (nokuntu needs an outdated gambas2) (see viewtopic.php?p=437471#p437471). I hope that Open Mobile Suite is easier.
Here's a nice description of the application, including a screenshot: http://www.htl-neufelden.at/en/diplomar ... artphones/.
Here's the project's development "blog" (a Facebook page): https://www.facebook.com/Series60-Remote-365945873563/.
Here's the source code: https://sourceforge.net/projects/series ... te/0.9.92/. The article on http://www.htl-neufelden.at/en/diplomar ... artphones/ says that thanks "to the platform-independent programming language Python and the framework Qt, the application is available for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X without a single modification of the source code". I hope that's true.
There's an old Ubuntu PPA here: https://launchpad.net/~lukas-hetzenecke ... obilesuite that might give useful examples for debianization.
Another great feature is that it is supposed to work with Android as well, so it should be possible to get your data Symbian -> Android and vice versa (as long as the *.apk needed isn't too old for modern systems).
Greetings, and thanks a lot in advance for looking into this, Joe
