MX 17/18 Repository: The KeepassXC Thread

#1 Post by Stevo »

KeePassXC Password Manager 2.2.4, the current release, is now in our test repository, backported from upstream Debian. It's an actively developed community fork of the dormant KeePassX project, and has more features and bug fixes.

Additional features compared to KeePassX

Auto-Type on all three major platforms (Linux, Windows, OS X)
Stand-alone password generator
Password strength meter
YubiKey HMAC-SHA1 authentication for unlocking databases
Using website favicons as entry icons
Merging of databases
Automatic reload when the database changed on disk
KeePassHTTP support for use with PassIFox in Mozilla Firefox and chromeIPass in Google Chrome or Chromium.
Many bug fixes

Just letting you know that I've been using KeepassXC 2.3.1 from the testing repository for a week or so, in combination with the Firefox add-on, and it's been working well for me! Thanks!

I didn't even realize that KeePassXC existed; I was using KeePass2. KeePassXC is very cool. Getting rid of KeePass2 allows me to get rid of the Mono libraries as well.

Yes it's great and easy to use! I especially like the browser plugins that make filling out and storing website passwords really easy. It also stores SSH keys, if you're into that.

We are now moving 2.3.4 to the main repo, since it seems to be working well, plus is needed for the browser extensions to work.
