as long as kodi can play, it is good. don't upgrade, sometime upgrade can broke your machine.
just like i upgrade from mx16.1 to mx17b1/2, kodi can't play any video but i found a solution n solve it.

ps;
your kodi is android n stuck at error. goto to setting n clear data.
it will reset to original w/o your vendor pre-setup.
google for kodi setting n u can get back some of video/radio/program settings.
Thanks, man. I appreciate your suggestion. I will be careful with this machine breaking thing.

Kodi 17.6 is now available in the test repository.

One thing Debian seems to have done is to work with Kodi developers to restrict user's access to those unofficial repositories with janky pirating addons. Be aware of this if you're using those...

Kodi is supposed to pull in either that package or kodi-repository.

Code: Select all

Depends: kodi-bin (>= 2:17.6+dfsg1-1~mx17+1), kodi-bin (<< 2:17.6+dfsg1-1~mx17+1.1~), kodi-data (>= 2:17.6+dfsg1-1~mx17+1), init-system-helpers (>= 1.18~), kodi-repository-kodi | kodi-repository
Are you using the deb-multimedia repository?

What does

Code: Select all

apt policy kodi
show?

mxpi kodi-repository-kodi didn't turn grey when installed (x3). this confuses me whether it is install or not? :confused:

Code: Select all

$ apt policy kodi
kodi:
  Installed: 5:17.6-dmo1+deb9u1
  Candidate: 5:17.6-dmo1+deb9u1

Did you install kodi itself using the package manager?

Just curious cause mine says this (package manager install iirc):

Code: Select all

$ apt policy kodi
kodi:
  Installed: 2:17.3+dfsg1-1mx17+1

i think not, probably from (dmo indicate) deb-multimedia repository. i'm just confuse on the installation of the kodi add-ons on mxpi not grey out when install.

Ah.. I added the addons using an online tutorial :) I think back then kodi wasn't even in the PI yet.

I don't believe the package installer can account for deb-multimedia packages. Since you're using the deb-multimedia Kodi, I really can't see how it belongs in this thread, which is for our own build.

So.. the best course of action would be do uninstall all Kodi related stuff he has, and reinstall kodi using the package installer, and THEN the other stuff also fixes itself since it is compatible.
