distraction free remix / respin of MX-15 KDE

#1 Post by yop »

when you run a new distro, do you want tons of nag screens ?

do you want be asked whether you want to close a window 500 times a day ? :bawling:

do you want crappy pictures moving around the screen :footinmouth: and bloody icons :blindfold: popping up all the time like or "clocky" or such nonsense ? :happybday:

yes ? then stick with the non-remixed distros. Else consider the upcoming "distraction-free straight KDE remix". :lion:

hopefully the mods can be worked into /etc/skel(eton)

It's pretty easy to make your own respin with the modifications. Why not do one and put it up for download?

I am already working on it.

I am collecting user suggestions as to which settings after "account reset" are very user-unfriendly.

e.g. the default dolphin setup without menu is basically a slap in the face, same with firefox and it's blatant bookmark spam.

what mods will "DFR" carry ?

1. clocky removed
2. /etc/skel made user friendly for a change
3. plain colour as background
4. empty clean desktop
5. properly arranged kmenu
6. no systray distractions like the update-reminder and other rubbish

... to be continued

7. almost all video effects disabled, except translucency & screenshot etc.
8. obviously, Lancelot will be killed and replaced with classic kmenu

This is not appropriate: stop trash talking, do the remix and leave us alone.
