Hello,
During the last 2 weeks I get random screen pop ups of the screen configuration, it is very annoying because it blocks any other action until I close the screen, and they pop up one behind the other. Please see the screen capture. How can I block or prevent from appearing these pop ups that I have not called?
After an hour working with the computer are less frequent, but when I turn on the computer and begin to work, the pop ups appears every 20 or 40 seconds. One hour later every 5 to 10 minutes and a couple of hours later every half an hour. Is the same either in XFCE or KDE
Thanks a lot
joejac

do you have two monitors? I would check the cables.... could be loose.

Hello and thank you dolphin_oracle,
Yes I have an external AOC 20" monitor connected to my laptop, I prefer to work with the AOC because is bigger. I double checked and connections are fine, in fact I do not touch anything in the laptop because I have external mouse and keyboard that I use, and the random problem is less frequent the more hours I use the laptop. I moved the AOC cable and it did not pop up while I moved the cable, it is well connected to the laptop.
Any more ideas?
Thanks and regards

I still think it's in the port or cable because the default behavior of both desktops is to give you the Desi play dialog upon detecting a new connection. My son's viewsonic does this without even flickering the screen. His is usually loose on the back of the monitor rather than the pc.

Hello,
I double checked the connection to the monitor, it is even tighter on the back of the monitor. My monitor never flicks. I do not know what to say.
Is it possible to change some configuration parameters in MX (config files) to force the external monitor and override the mechanism for detecting the new connection?
Thanks a lot
Regards
joejac

the only thing I know of off hand is the checkbox in the Display app about "Configuring Montors when a connection is dectected". The text may not be exact, but its on Display app in XFCE.
One of the KDE guys will have to chime in on a similar setting in KDE

Will give some insight.
Running a RAM test wouldn't hurt.
In KDE/Start/Settings/System Settings/Startup and Shutdown/ as kdesu or gtksu
Autostart: see if anything concerns monitors
Service Manager: "
Session Management: Change On Login to Start with an Empty session
Display and Monitor: make sure the configuration is correct. (Mine is HDMI-0)
Logout and back in after making changes.

Yes, even I am dishonest. Not in many ways, but in some. Forty-one, I think it is.
