Restore okular viewport settings ?

#1 Post by eemaestro »

This morning I was viewing a pdf document in okular. I wanted to delete
the leftmost vertical panel with icons to provide more viewport width for
the document. I wasn't sure what the vertical panel with icons was called.
So I began a process of elimination, toggling the visibility under settings.
The first one I selected wiped out the horizontal vertical panel on top.
Therefore I cannot get back to any of the viewport's menu-based functions.
I don't think okular has an undo function, at least not that I know of. Does
anybody know where this KDE application's settings are stored (in a file, pre-
sumably) and how I can restore its default settings without having to reinstall
the operating system or move to a different user account?

A general approach would be to find the config file in /home and rename it. Then start the application and it should get a new default config file.
The thing you wanted to change should be calle s.th. like sidebar, I guess.
PS: I hope I'm not telling stuff you already know..
MX-14 on a Via Eden 1GHz CPU thin client, 3GB RAM, Via VX800 chipset, Via Chrome9 HC GPU, 32GB M.2 SSD;
btrfs with @ and @home subvolumes for MX-14;
added @antiX and @antiXhome subvolumes and copied antix 13.1 base into them, adjusting Grub from MX-14.

I got the checkbox to "show menu bar", or words to that effect, by right mouse-clicking the portion of the viewport where the document is usually displayed. Phew. Back to being able to access the menu.

Most KDE apps store their settings in /home/<username>/.kde/share/config/, Okular's is okularrc.
