Running MX14.2 with KDE. When I plug the tablet into the computer it doesn't get recognized. Googleing pointed to Ubuntu: http://askubuntu.com/questions/207569/h ... sfer-files
Is that the procedure to follow for MX?
Trying to copy a couple of books to a Nexus 10 tablet
Re: Trying to copy a couple of books to a Nexus 10 tablet
mtp-tools is in the mepis repos maintained by Stevo.
Unplug the device, install mtp-tools and then logout-login,
and see how it goes.
It works fine for my S2.
Note: if all else fails, use Dropbox to transfer, depending on size.

Actually, you want the newer libmtp and kio-mtp installed from the main MEPIS CR. Then the device is supposed to show up in the removable device notifier widget on the taskbar automatically after it's connected.
Re: Trying to copy a couple of books to a Nexus 10 tablet
libmtp9, libmtp-common and libmtp-runtime were already installed. I installed kio-mtp, but still nothing happens when I plug the tablet in. Do I have to log out and back in?Actually, you want the newer libmtp and kio-mtp installed from the main MEPIS CR.

A good thing to try.
Yes, even I am dishonest. Not in many ways, but in some. Forty-one, I think it is.

I did and that didn't help.A good thing to try.
Re: Trying to copy a couple of books to a Nexus 10 tablet
You may be having a conflict because MX-14 uses the Gnome Virtual Filesystem (gvfs) for mtp and KDE uses kio-mtp.
Try purging at least the gvfs-backends package that allows gvfs to connect to mtp. Log out & back in to make sure dbus notices.
When I backported gvfs to get mtp working in MX-14 I noticed I couldn't get it to work in KDE, so there is definitely an issue there.

That didn't work either. I still have gvfs, gvfs-fuse, gvfs-common, gvfs-daemons & gvfs-libs installed.Try purging at least the gvfs-backends package that allows gvfs to connect to mtp. Log out & back in to make sure dbus notices.

Does the Nexus 10 show up when plugged into a Live session of MX 14 using gvfs and Thunar?
