Virtualbox 5.2.12 is in the test repo. What's difficult about enabling the TR in the Package Installer and then searching for "virtualbox"?

It doesn't have any theme issues as far as I can tell, either.
I don't see it in Test Repo of MX15/16, and based on your earlier posts above in this thread, I thought you weren't able to make the package?

@asqwerth, you are right. It's not in MX-15/16 test repo.
My reply above was wrongly placed here within this “Package Requests/Status - MX-15/16" thread. :lipsrsealed: :bawling:

That's why I wanted to know what sort of "goodies" are usually incorporated into the MX version as compared to the Oracle version (since their Jessie repo does have a 5.2 version) which I'll be giving up if I install the 5.2 version from Oracle and replace the current VB5.1 from MX15/16's own repo.

ANd if I keep to MX15/16's version 5.1, would there be some incompatibility if I'm running and updating the same VMs in Virtualbox 5.1 (while in MX15/16) as I do in Virtualbox 5.2 in other distros, including MX17.

I do have a similar scenario. I have the impression that Virtualbox guest+additions 5.2 (within the running VM) are downwards compatible to the Vbox-host's running 5.1. So I do always upgrade within VB-guest to latest 5.2, and could open within VB-host 5.1.

But then I noticed that no 5.2 guest modules appeared in the repos.
The Virtualbox guest driver becomes mainline in Kernel version 4.16 by default, though needs to be specifically enabled as a module. 4.17 has VirtualBox 5.2.12 (stable) by default.
How this affects VirtualBox for Debian in particular, I don't know. Still working on a build with support enabled. Don't really use VirtualBox, but kinda want to check the new driver out:)
