Please upgrade “pdf-presenter-console v3.1.1“ to v4.0.7

#1 Post by nanoSYS » Wed Aug 23, 2017 10:43 am

Would it be possible to upgrade “pdf-presenter-console version 3.1.1“ (2012) to version 4.0.7 ?

https://pdfpc.github.io/

https://github.com/pdfpc/pdfpc

------
pdfpc has been developed by Jakob Westhoff, David Vilar, Robert Schroll, Andreas Bilke, Andy Barry, Phillip Berndt and others. It was previously available at https://github.com/davvil/pdfpc

pdfpc is a fork of Pdf Presenter Console by Jakob Westhoff, available at https://github.com/jakobwesthoff/Pdf-Presenter-Console
------
Thank you for your consideration on this matter.
Cheers!

On it--have three builds going on at once--MX 15/16 32-bit, and MX 17 32&64 bit, courtesy of the pbuilder system. The first MX 15 64-bit build had no issues. I got the 4.0.7 sources from Debian testing.

Edit: here are the packages, if you want to try them before they hit the test repo: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BxE7w ... VpPdlZvX0E

Stevo, I gave it a thorough run on my MX16.1, 64 bit machine, with the MX15 64-bit build, all well! No glitches or bugs that I could detect.

Tried to install the MX17 64-bit built, but the gdebi status: “error:dependency not satisfiable...”

“To get a better feeling of pdfpc, install it, download the demo presentation (https://pdfpc.github.io/demo/pdfpc-demo.pdf) and start it with pdfpc"
I’m quite pleased to be able to use this program on MX for my pdf presentations now.

Thank you so very much !!

Yes, the MX 17 version was built on a Debian Stretch base, as will MX 17 itself, so a lot of MX 17 packages won't necessarily be backwards-compatible. That's just how these things work. All those packages are built from the same source code.

Please explain what you are calling MX 17. As far as I know it does not exist. If it is some pre build it can be a source of confusion, as it it is to me, for users who think it exists and is somewhere available.

Please explain what you are calling MX 17.
He means the pre-alpha.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was unaware there was any significant work on a pre-alpha.

Yes, while I'm working on a package now, if it's not in Stretch already, I'll try and build versions on a Stretch base for MX 17. That way I won't forget it. And they could come in useful for those with a stretched MX 16.

Though many will probably need updates further up the road.
