I know nothing about this...

Yes the mesa packages are already there, for instance MX15 came with these *mesa* packages (I don't know if we've upgraded mesa for MX16 above and beyond the stock Debian jessie version).

Code: Select all

$ grep 10.3.2-1+deb8u1 /usr/share/antiX/installed.txt | awk '{print $1,$2}'
libegl1-mesa:amd64 10.3.2-1+deb8u1

MX 16 RC 1 has Mesa 12.0.3, so that's why Intel Skylake video works out of the box with it. I wonder if 13 adds 7th generation "Kabylake" support, though I also suspect new firmware will have to come from somewhere for that.

Intel driver working with this and the new liquorix-kernel:

Code: Select all

Graphics:  Card-1: Intel HD Graphics 520 bus-ID: 00:02.0
           Card-2: NVIDIA Device 179c bus-ID: 01:00.0
           Display Server: X.Org 1.16.4 driver: intel Resolution: 1920x1080@60.01hz
           GLX Renderer: Mesa DRI Intel HD Graphics 520 (Skylake GT2)
           GLX Version: 3.0 Mesa 13.0.2 Direct Rendering: Yes

and switching to the Nvidia driver:

Code: Select all

$ optirun inxi -Gx
Graphics:  Card-1: Intel HD Graphics 520 bus-ID: 00:02.0
           Card-2: NVIDIA Device 179c bus-ID: 01:00.0
           Display Server: X.Org 1.16.4 driver: intel Resolution: 1920x1080@60.01hz
           GLX Renderer: GeForce 940MX/PCIe/SSE2 GLX Version: 4.5.0 NVIDIA 367.44 Direct Rendering: Yes

Hmmm--glxspheres64 output seems to have dropped maybe 15% when I run it with the Nvidia driver--but I hardly use that driver anyway.

Edit: Scratch that, I was running it in KDE with the compositing going; it went back to the former speed when I switched that off.

I also discovered that the "TearFree"* option in 20-intel.conf causes glitchy artifacts when watching fullscreen video playback using the opengl video output--turning that off fixes that, but then I seem to get some minor tearing when scrolling a page in Firefox. I'll play with settings, maybe try the modesetting driver, and see if that helps any.

*Shouldn't TearFree be a default? Does anyone want tearing? :confused:

I know I always have to create a custom 20-intel.conf file just to add the "Tearfree" option because it is not default.

Turns out that I can fix the visual glitches in Firefox and Pale Moon's smooth scrolling if I use compositing for the desktop and enable VSync, so it's all good now.

mesa_13.0.5 is now available in the test repo.
https://mesa3d.org/relnotes/13.0.5.html
Mesa 13.0.5 is a bug fix release which fixes bugs found since the 13.0.4 release.

Mesa 13.0.5 implements the OpenGL 4.4 API, but the version reported by glGetString(GL_VERSION) or glGetIntegerv(GL_MAJOR_VERSION) / glGetIntegerv(GL_MINOR_VERSION) depends on the particular driver being used. Some drivers don't support all the features required in OpenGL 4.4. OpenGL 4.4 is only available if requested at context creation because compatibility contexts are not supported.

Bug fixes

Bug 98329 - [dEQP, EGL, SKL, BDW, BSW] dEQP-EGL.functional.image.render_multiple_contexts.gles2_renderbuffer_depth16_depth_buffer
Bug 98421 - src/loader/loader.c:111:40: error: unknown type name ‘drmDevicePtr’
Bug 98526 - glsl/tests/general-ir-test regression
Bug 99532 - Compute shader doesn't give right result under some circumstances
Bug 99631 - segfault with OSVRTrackerView and openscenegraph git master
Bug 99633 - rasterizer/core/clip.h:279:49: error: ‘const struct API_STATE’ has no member named ‘linkageCount’
Bug 99692 - [radv] Mostly broken on Hawaii PRO/CIK ASICs

Didn't have any trouble with 13.04. Upgrading now to 13.05 to test that.
