MX-15/16 Repository: The Mesa Thread

#1 Postby v3g4n » Thu Jul 28, 2016 9:16 pm

mesa_11.2.2 is now available in the test repo.
Mesa 11.2.2 is a bug fix release which fixes bugs found since the 11.2.1 release.

Mesa 11.2.2 implements the OpenGL 4.1 API, but the version reported by glGetString(GL_VERSION) or glGetIntegerv(GL_MAJOR_VERSION) / glGetIntegerv(GL_MINOR_VERSION) depends on the particular driver being used. Some drivers don't support all the features required in OpenGL 4.1. OpenGL 4.1 is only available if requested at context creation because compatibility contexts are not supported.

New features
None (although I am sure there are some since the 10.3.2 version that is available in Jessie)

Bug fixes
This list is likely incomplete.
Bug 92850 - Segfault loading War Thunder
Bug 93767 - Glitches with soft shadows and MSAA in Knights of the Old Republic 2
Bug 94955 - Uninitialized variables leads to random segfaults (valgrind log, apitrace attached)
Bug 94994 - OSMesaGetProcAdress always fails on mangled OSMesa
Bug 95026 - Alien Isolation segfault after initial loading screen/video
Bug 95133 - X-COM Enemy Within crashes when entering tactical mission with Bonaire
Bug 95164 - GLSL compiler (linker I think) emits assertion upon call to glAttachShader
Bug 95251 - vdpau decoder capabilities: not supported

This version will pull in a new version of llvm (3.8 ).
There are also ugraded versions of the amdgpu, ati and nouveau video drivers.

Code: Select all

glxinfo | grep "OpenGL version"                                                                                   20:41:16
OpenGL version string: 3.0 Mesa 11.2.2

mesa_12.0.2 is now available in the test repo.
Hi all,

Mesa 12.0.2 is now available.

The current release fixes crashes in GLX, EGL and Wayland-EGL, resolves a
number of memory leaks in the video decoding drivers, makes the Intel Vulkan
driver more robust by exporting only the required symbols (previously we would
get symbol collisions leading to strange behaviour or even crashes).

>From Android side of things a deadlock and various memory leaks have been
fixed.

Not to mention the steady amount of driver fixes in i965, nouveau, radeonsi,
freedreno and vc4.

The 12.0.2 update has stabilised my laptop for the first time ever, since the release of MX15. None of the known triggers which would result in a complete lockup have caused a problem. For me, this looks more promising than anything else I have tried. I have for the first time eve=r been able to put the machine into sleep mode, wake and use Google Chrome to rapidly scroll through facebook posts while playing videos and still be operational 6 hours afterwards. Prior to the update, the process outlined above would render the machine fully locked within 10 minutes of waking from sleep.

I like what this update has achieved.

mesa_12.0.3 is now available in the test repo.
Mesa 12.0.3 Is An Emergency Release For Intel Users
Mesa 12.0.3 reverts an earlier commit (i965/miptree: Stop multiplying cube depth by 6 in HiZ) that was causing a number of regressions for all Intel devices powered by the i965 Mesa driver. Aside from that, was just updating a download URL and the preparations for tagging this immediate release.

I am just adding a short section on mesa to the Users Manual. I see many mesa packages in Synaptic, so which package would the user select to install it?
Production: 4.7.0-0.bpo.1-amd64, MX-15 RC1, AMD FX-4130 Quad-Core, GeForce GT 630/PCIe/SSE2, 8 GB, Kingston SSD 120 GB and WesternDigital 1TB
Testing: AAO 722: 3.16-0-4-686-pae. MX-15, AMD C-60 APU, 4 GB
