It looks good and behaves well with files recorded on earlier Audacity versions. Will do some tight editing later today and test that too.
Was there any sign of the 2.1.2 Manual Steve ? I think that it is packaged in with the Mac versions but don't think I have ever seen it in our
repos.

That's good too. Edited out a batch of switching transients (clicks) in a voice over track quickly and very easily. IMHO package can go to main.

We now have the recently released 2.1.3 version in the test repository, just barely short of a year since our last update. Softpedia has a little article about the update.

It looks interesting with about two days reading in the release notes + manual updates, tho' much of them refer to behaviour with Win & Mac Will test it out later in the week - have been promised several days of rain that will keep me away from outside chores.

The pinned head will make some editing jobs easier. Thanks Stevo.

A big update to 2.2.0 has landed in the test repo. It took some tweaking to build a version that would actually run on my MX 16 install instead of saying it could not find flac or id3tag libraries, so I'd like to see how it runs for others.

It built and ran without any problems on just plain Stretch/MX 17, so it's also in that test repository.

Wow! I use this also, this app is so very useful, I use also the audacity guides to check where to download some app, and how to edit records.

We now have the latest 2.3.1 release in the repository, rebuilt from the Audacity PPA.

Please let us know how it installs and performs if you give it a try. Thanks!

It doesn't include the HTML manual, but that can be downloaded from their web site with

Code: Select all

wget https://www.fosshub.com/Audacity.html?dwl=audacity-manual-2.3.1.zip
and then unzipped and the files put into /usr/share/audacity/help/manual

Audacity 2.3.2 has landed in the test repo. Changes/fixes include
  • New ‘Select’ button in the track panel to select the whole track.
  • Audacity mod-script-pipe for driving Audacity from Python now comes with Audacity and can be enabled via preferences.
  • Type to Create a Label is now off by default.
  • A plug-in installer for Nyquist now provides a file browser for selecting ‘.NY’ files to install.
  • And over 20 bugs were fixed in the release.
