Yeah, I didn't see it until I renamed the ~/.screensaver file and let a new one get created; then the new ones worked.

I just updated as it appeared in synaptic, but I cannot activate the discoball one that was mentioned above. It is not installed.

Rename .xscreensaver in your home folder, and reopen xscreensaver. It will recreate a new file and discoball will show up. Make sure xscreensaver-gl is also installed.

None of the new ones are really mind-blowing--discoball is just a rather battered mirrorball that rotates. As the description says, "whoop, whoop". :p I had to add the new savers to the config files myself, as the PPA where I got the original source left them out. Just my compulsion for completeness kicking in...

Of course, the really impressive ones are in the rss-glx package, which is separate from xscreensaver but will integrate into it if installed.

Did the renaming (did that earlier), installing your and Stevo's suggestions and got them working.

Still Galaxy is my fave though :)

Thanks!

Now updated to 5.39 in the test repo. The new savers in this release (all are in the xscreensaver-gl package) vs. 5.38 are crumbler, maze3d, peepers ( kind of creepy), and razzledazzle, which can be viewed here: https://www.jwz.org/xscreensaver/screenshots/
