Installed on MX16 migrated from MX15_x64
Removed .xscreensaver before installing.
Seems to be working fine.

Apple MacBook Pro, MX15 with MATE desktop loaded, used synatic MX15 testing repo only to upgrade xsreensaver version 5.36.
Did not load xsceensaver-screensaver-dizzy version 0.3-2 maybe still broken. Reset synaptic back to normal and closed it.
Checked that autostart stayed for xscreensaver, it did. Checked the new savers

cubestack
cubetwist
discoball
dymaxionmap
energystream
hexstrut
hydrostat
raverhoop
splodesic
unicrud

They worked as said. Let the xscreensaver run for a while then restarted the computer. Left autostart do it's thing over night
and so far, no crashes. Stevo your experimental build of xscreensaver 5.36 seems to be working.

It worked for me, don't think I even removed .xscreensaver file so it will be fine for people to just update.

Can you choose any of the new screensavers, such as discoball, when you keep your .xscreensaver file?

I'll ask Tim to move it to main, since it seems to fix the crash issue.

I do not see discoball listed.

I see it in the list but is disabled and when I select it it says is not installed. maybe I need xscreensaver-data-extra or some other package.

All the new ones are in the xscreensaver-gl package.

Not the example you picked, discoball I don't see that one. But the rest seem to work just fine.
