MX 15/16 Repository: The nvidia-driver Thread

#1 Post by Stevo » Mon Nov 30, 2015 9:32 pm

The proprietary nvidia-driver-3.52.63 has been added to the test repository in order to support newer hardware. Support for some older hardware may have been dropped, but the stock Jessie version can be used for that hardware. Synaptic should be set to install Recommends, or add --install-recommends as an argument on the command line:

Code: Select all

apt-get install --install-recommends nvidia-kernel-dkms
and the Debian wiki guide followed after the install:

3. Create an Xorg server configuration file.
4. Restart your system to enable the nouveau blacklist.

We now have 375.39 in the test repository, ported over from jessie-backports. This version adds support for newer hardware, bugfixes, and is also compatible with 4.10 kernels.
