If you require the use of broadcom-sta or ndiswrapper you will need to upgrade/install the versions from the test repo. If you do not do this your older drivers will fail to compile.
linux-liquorix (4.9-1) unstable; urgency=medium

* switch to 4.9 base
* switch from gcc-5 to gcc-6 for builds
* migrate configuration from 4.8 to 4.9
* update version to 0.1

Lest any new readers get the wrong idea, we revert the build configuration to use the gcc-4.9 we have in Debian Jessie, but that's mentioned way down in the changelog--it's just a given with every version we backport.

The fglrx dkms module build fails, is there a 4.9 patch available for it somewhere?

Code: Select all

Setting up linux-headers-4.9.0-0.1-liquorix-amd64 (4.9-1mx150+1) ...
Examining /etc/kernel/header_postinst.d.
run-parts: executing /etc/kernel/header_postinst.d/dkms 4.9.0-0.1-liquorix-amd64
Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel: 4.9.0-0.1-liquorix-amd64 (x86_64)
Consult /var/lib/dkms/fglrx/15.12/build/make.log for more information.

4.9-3 is now available in the test repo.
If you require the use of broadcom-sta, ndiswrapper or nvidia-driver you will need to upgrade/install the versions from the test repo. If you do not do this your older drivers will fail to compile. Currently 32bit fglrx will fail to build on the 4.9 kernel series so if you require it hold off for now.
linux-liquorix (4.9-3) unstable; urgency=medium

* merge 4.9.1
* update version to 1.1

linux-liquorix (4.9-2) unstable; urgency=medium

* merge 4.9.1-rc for 2017-01-04
* disable memory cgroups plus other non-essential cgroups
* update version to 0.2

Stevo updated fglrx a couple days ago and the dkms build works okay now for 64bit (amd64), I think he said it still fails to build though for 32bit (i386).

In limited testing, I can't get my Optimus system to switch to the Nvidia GPU with the latest Liquorix kernel. The only thing I can find in the zen patch is related to Optimus-nouveau instead of Optimus-nvidia. If I can confirm this, I'll ask on the Liquorix forum about what hotfix was added for intel + optimus, and how to revert it so we can test it.

Well well. Nice job v.
This is the first liquorix kernel that didn't kill the sierra mobile broadband connection for my high-faluten MX 16 Dell laptop. I've been trying them as they show up but have had to go back to to the 4.8.0 debian. Every kernel, even the 4.8.0 and up has revealed a graphics defect where any application that had been maximized then minimized or closed, left about a half inch high artifact just above the horiz panel extending the width of the display. That defect doesn't show up on this kernel. I did upgrade fglrx too as advised in your post. :number1:

There have reports from Stretch Realtek 8192eu wifi users, with the out-of-tree driver from https://github.com/Mange/rtl8192eu-linux-driver, that the 4.9 kernel added their PCI ID to the rtl8xxxu driver, and that doesn't seem to work. This applies to both the Debian and Liquorix 4.9 kernels. The solution so far, until it's fixed, is to force the loading of the 8192eu module by adding a line with

8192eu

to the /etc/modules file.
