Looks like there's a problem with it also

Code: Select all

It looks like a bad upload that Tim will have to fix, then.

Plan C workaround, if you really want the new version now, is to download and install my OBS builds, though they will still be seen as lower than the MX packages and you'll have to ignore the upgrade nag. https://software.opensuse.org//download ... e=palemoon

Just click on the Debian logo and then go to the bottom of the page and click on the "grab binary packages directly" link. Debian 8.0 packages are compatible with MX 15/16, Debian 7.0 are for MX 14 and MEPIS 12.

I downloaded and get this when I try to install.

Code: Select all

Same version is available in a software channel

You are recommended to install the software from the channel instead.

Plan A is back up and running thanks to Tim, so the version in our repo should now upgrade over the OBS build.

No problem on my wife's MX-15-machine. Thank you. But my MX-16-laptop showed an error note when starting pale moon after update:
problems with an unknown "entity" (whatever that means) and working with XUL. I browsed the Pale Moon forum and found a probable
reason : incompatibility of language-packs. As my Pale Moon wouldn't start at all, I did a downgrade via Synaptic to version 27.2.1
and everything worked again. Then I checked my language-pack : version-number was 27.3.1 ! Hm, a bit curious.
First I removed the language-pack, changed the default language to en-US and ran update again : Pale Moon started with no problems.
Installed the german language-pack from Pale Moon-homepage with no problems, too. Now everything is OK, but I still don't know
what this language-pack confusion is related to.

It may be a mistake in their versioning of the language packs--as of now, the current release of PM is still 27.3.0: https://github.com/MoonchildProductions ... n/releases

You can manually download their build of PM and run it in a local folder as a test, it should still pick up the MX PM settings and extensions. If it still has the same trouble with the language pack, I'd report it to the PM developers.

Can you correct the spelling on the Package Installer from Palemoon to Pale Moon? The Pale Moon head honcho Moonchild would throw a fit if he saw that :)
