For packages that are giving trouble like this one, I think it's better to install in the terminal instead of Synaptic, since I think you had a build failure with broadcom-sta-dkms and Synaptic doesn't expose the terminal by default, so it wasn't obvious.

So what happens with

Code: Select all

su -c 'apt-get install broadcom-sta-dkms=6.30.223.248-2mcr120+1'

I was never offered the new version as far as I know. Sometime today, after work,I'm gonna try & force it. (If it's really there) If it ain't, Its in Testing (I think)

Thanks for the push

If I recall correctly I think some of the pinning Warren did in Mepis 12's /etc/apt/preferences* or /etc/apt/apt.conf* files causes our Community Repo (packages with a "mcr120" in the version number) to not show up as the latest version when using Synaptic's default distro setting.

I think if you change the preference to "Prefer versions from: mepis" that the CR versions will show up as the latest version.
Thanks for that Info. I remember the repos getting fragged after long usage & renaming .d to .old. Then useing just the list provided by http://www.mepis.org/docs/en/index.php? ... t_MEPIS_12. Then I remember changes in repos, after that (which I implemented). I'll give your suggestion a try & see what occurs.

I Appreciate your help

Jerry

Stevo. I'll give that a go when I get back near the Wired Connection. :)
Thanks Again
