synaptic / apt-get problemn

#1 Post by GDixon » Wed Sep 07, 2016 6:39 pm

It's been awhile since I used this old acer 10 inch netbook.
I have M-12 oin it and when I went to use synaptic and or apt-get i get an error

The package linux-image-4.0-4.dmz.1-liquorix-amd64 needs to be reinstalled, but I can't find an archive for it

How do I solve this?

Greg

This was a kernel that you installed from the Testing repository. Liquorix kernels update frequently, so kernel images only remain in Testing until a new kernel in that series is uploaded. That's a limitation of debian style repositories - only the latest version of a package name is retained.

However, I do keep archives, and I have uploaded the linux-image, and linux-headers debs you need to a temporary area so you can download them. Depending on your browser, you may need to right click these links and select "Save Link As" (I've had some browsers try to render .deb files as text).

http://mxrepo.com/misc/linux-image-4.0- ... _amd64.deb
http://mxrepo.com/misc/linux-headers-4. ... _amd64.deb

Once you've downloaded them, clicking on these in Thunar should bring up the Gdebi program to install them.

It's also worrisome that the kernel needs to be reinstalled, IMO. That's rather unusual.

I used MX-14 and now MX-15 on 2 different model Acer 10" netbooks.
The stock installed 32 bit kernel, works fine with both of them
with synaptic and apt-get.

Thank you timkb4cq,

I will dig the acer out later and give this a try.

What happened is I use it at a coffee shop normally and just haven't gone in ummm a very long time so it sat in a desk.

Got it out and oops theres a problem.

Again thank you.

Greg

EDIT: Yes Stevo I agree, I have no idea what happened.

I see there have been a lot of changes on the forum. Can you still thank someone ? If so how and where?

Thanks has not been added to what is available for the upgraded software. So we don't have it. I miss it also.
Yes, even I am dishonest. Not in many ways, but in some. Forty-one, I think it is.
