What MX programs can be used on M-12_64

#1 Post by towwire » Mon Aug 03, 2015 2:30 pm

What MX programs can be used on M-12_64 and How do I obtain them?
I know that some or most have 64 bit versions and since M-12_64 is multiarch I can run either. Just have not found them in Synaotic.

When you're online, type

Code: Select all

$apt-cache search gps
, or whatever "stuff" in the 3rd word you're looking for, on the command line and a list of applications will be shown.

Pretty much all of them. You just need to add the two extra repositories that they live in.

Though I don't think that the antix repository is needed for the MX apps, so you would need only

Code: Select all

deb http://main.mepis-deb.org/mepiscr/xfce/ xfce-4.10 main

The latest versions of the mx apps live in the xfce4.10 repo. Xfce 4.12 was moved into the main CR after testing.
Really, the main reason I have left the experimental xfce 4.12 repo alive is because a Crunchbang user wrote a guide on their forum on upgrading their xfce using that repo so it is still being used by them - and probably by some other debian based distro users as well.
I hate to abandon anyone who finds our work useful.

I just wanted the MX Codecs installer to correct a problem with VLC, it did not work, still will not play DVD's or mp4 files. It does do the network streaming. I'll bring this up in another post later as this VLC 2.2.1.

I did not use the app installer as it wanted to bring in too much as I already had what I wanted.

So you just need to remove the # from
# deb http://main.mepis-deb.org/mepiscr/xfce/ xfce-4.10 main
(or check its box in Synaptic)
to enable the repo, reload, and all the mx-apps should be available.

I should have said that this is what I have now. I added as per "Stevo", and installed MX Codecs and then uncheck the MX ones. Every once in awhile I will check them and reload to see what's available. Your input has aways been helpfull, Thanks.
