Updated Menu Icon

#1 Post by newkansan »

I am not a graphic artist, but I could fake it if motivated enough. :p

I think if someone edited the logo at the top of the forum page, we could have nice Faenza-style menu icons for both MX and Mepis. I love the rounded corners and blue (rather than black) coloring.

Has someone already done this? Would love for my Menu icon to match the rest of my panel!

Cheers!

I kind of did that or someone else did and I used it.

Here are a couple of more options. Like I said, I'm no graphic artist :)

This is the icon I use on my KDE desktop install. Sorry, it is only 32x32 Hi Colour.

Lots of great options. I've been testing them all out. The one Utopia linked to is my favorite, but the lower part has this weird fading out effect that looks cool up close in an editor, but just doesn't look right on my panel. I ended up sticking with one of the ones I made (the stock black MX icon with rounded corners). Simply rounding the corners makes a bigger difference (to my eye) than I expected it to.

New install of MX-14.4 and I always add the following Icons to panel:

File Manager
Leafpad
Settings Manager <--already on panel

These three panel icons are all very light and have little color to quickly identify. Where are the icons stored, and can I just add color to them via gimp, to have these panel icons with colour for more recognition contrast?

The icons are in /usr/share/icons. But you will find that most of them are links and can't be manipulated. It's probably easier to download them from the internet and open them in Gimp.

Lots of work, I do not need at the moment. I will leave things as they are, and maybe hope to learn the new style Icon differences over time. As I continue work with the new 14.4 install as designed...

The default is Faenza-Cupertino-mini. There are several options in Settings/Appearance/Icons. You can also install the Faenza-Cupertino Icons. They are bigger. Also Gnome-Brave is already installed and may be what you want.

It might be useful to make the Panel wider. This takes very little space and makes the Icons grow some.
