The name "MEPIS" was inspired by Warren Woodford hearing someone mispronounce "Memphis", and since that's also an Egyptian city, Warren used the Giza pyramids as a MEPIS logo. Then that's the "X" from AntiX added.

thanks for the history lesson OWO! Makes sense now and quite clever. I always thought the Mepis logo was some kind of keyhole or something. So now the obvious; the Mepis logo has 2 pyramids with an O overlay. How about we wrap this puppy up with a clue as to what the 'O' is for ;)

I've always thought it was the Moon or the Earth. Not sure I've ever seen an explanation.

Way way back, the mepis logo had a flat moon in the background behind the pyramids, removing the centre of the flat moon gave it a more 3d effect.

@Starw0lf,

On a black background,
the mx1Xs.png
needs the pyramid and X to be pure white.
At this size, perhaps better without the reflected edge at the top,
making the icon as large as possible.

regards,
Richard.

@Starw0lf,
I appreciate your efforts at making a more visible, MX icon on a dark background.

Here's a comparison of various icons, including some you prepared.
They are on a horizontal Xfce panel of 33 pixels, to appear similar to the icon on top of my vertical Deskbaron the left:
Icons.png
The legend is for the icons on the separate panel.
1: mxfcelogo.png // same as menu icon on top of the vertical Deskbar on the left
2: MX-14-Mepis.jpg
3: your mx-kde.png
4: your mx-kde512nw.png // changed name to keep all the mx* together
5: your mx-kde512nw.svg
6: Crunch-bang-thumb.png // always legible
7: your mx1Xs.png
8: mepis.jpeg // not sure if it is the origial, but similar.

saludos,
Richard.

What about some stickers and other swag?
