Messing around with the GIMP development version

#1 Post by Stevo »

I've been doing new versions of the 2.9 GIMP development series in a outside OBS multimedia repository for a couple years now for both Jessie and Stretch. Since in Jessie, it required a newer set of ffmpeg libraries, that was in my multimedia repo: http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=127574

Now the latest 2.9.9~7 release has some code in it that makes it fail to build on even Stretch; requiring the libglib2.0 and gobject-introspection be backported first, which are pretty important base packages. So I'm thinking of splitting GIMP 2.9.9~7 for Stretch out into a separate repo. I was considering building them for our test repo before 2.9.9~7, but now I think it's best to keep this version out of even our test repos. Those that wish to try it can just add the outside repo. I already have it in a Buster build repo for those running on a testing base, such as antiX with that base: https://build.opensuse.org/project/show ... multimedia and am populating with applications that aren't in the main Debian repo.
